World Hockey Olympic Qualifier 2008 Japan

What a poor show! Robbed it seems. I thought it was a lost cause the moment the Malaysian hockey team drew 4-4 with Italy during the Olympics qualifier in Japan. Yes, we missed out on a final game with Germany after we drew 3-3 with Japan. Wait a minute, were we dreaming of beating Germany if we would have qualified for the final game anyway? We are talking about the world champion, Germany here.

Apparently, Japan scored a controversial goal on the 68th minute. Malaysia appealed the decision and it was rejected of course. I sincerely doubt the appeal jury would overturn the umpire decision. I still feel that our hopes were dashed after the Italy game. Anyway, I don’t see how we could overcome the mighty Germans if we would have qualified for the final game. The Germans scored 30 goals and conceded none.

As usual, life goes on after another failed campaign.
