Sweet words

I turned to the sports page upon buying The Star newspaper yesterday. The headlines were:

1. Perak slayed the Giants

2. Nicol knocks out Atkinson to reach final

3. Malaysia was 5 golds away from hitting the target in SEA Games

The Nicol and SEA Games news are old by now. Nicol is the first Asian and youngest world champion by beating Rachael Grinham in Hong Kong. People on the street will probably say, Ong Beng who?

Malaysia has also surpassed its target of 55 golds by reaching 61 on the final day of the SEA Games. The good news is we are above Indonesia in the total medal tally although I don’t know how Vietnam managed to get more gold than us.

Finally, 4-1 is a very flattering score for Perak indeed. After all, Selangor was a treble winner last year. Anyway, it is just the first game of the season. Still a very long way to go. Hopefully, the new coach can get the best out of the current team.
