Yuk Chai Primary School

Standard 1 registration in a Chinese school is opened during the month of March only. I found this out when I tried to register John at Yuk Chai Primary school today. The documents required for registration are as follow:

 1. Birth Certificate (1 x original & 1 x photocopy)

2. Latest Water Bill/Electricity Bill (1 x original & 1 x photocopy). If you are renting, bring along the tenancy agreement with one photocopy as usual

3. 1 self addressed envelope with 50 sen stamp

Office Hours:

Monday-Thursday: 8.00-12.00pm & 2.00-4.30pm

Friday: 8.00-12.00pm & 2.45-4.30pm

Saturday: Closed

Remember, registration is opened during March only. You will have to wait another year if you have missed out. You can register when your child is 5 years old. For example, if your child is 7 years old in 2010, you should register your child in March 2008. Please bear in mind you will only know whether your child is going to a Chinese school in September 2009.

Yes, competition is keen. Every kid is going to a Chinese school nowadays. I heard priority is given to those who stay nearby the school but then again, rental agreement is not too difficult to fabricate.

I can only register John next year since I have missed out this year. In the mean time, I would have to hold my breath until September next year.

New Blog

I have moved my blog from blogspot to wordpress based on jennemede’s recommendation. It was pretty easy to import my blog from blogspot to wordpress. Sign up for an account in wordpress. Look under Manage, Import. Just follow the instructions and your blog will have a new home.

My old volleyball injury is acting up again. I have hurt my ankle during a volleyball game back in 1994. Now the ankle still hurts occassionally.

On a separate note, I am glad tomorrow’s appointment is cancelled. I was not looking forward to this appointment.

Friday

Today marks another chapter in my life, albeit a short one. 8 months to be exact. This is probably my shortest career stint in any company. Yes I have resigned from Nestle and I have rejoined Nielsen. Purely for family reasons. Nothing to do with Nestle being a lousy company nor Nielsen doubling my pay to go back. Felt kind of sad on my way home. Anyway, life got to go on. After all, my family has a higher priority now.

Thursday

I went to Ikano Power Centre to continue my search for John’s theme day. I went into Hytex hoping to find something which John could wear on Friday. Unfortunately he didn’t want to become a rabbit (Bugs Bunny) or a mouse (Mickey) either.

Hazel, thanks for the tip but renting a costume for a theme day is just way too expensive.

In the end, I bought a Pirate Mickey Mouse shirt. It may not resemble any animal but at least it is a new t-shirt.

On my way to the parking lot, I saw a shop selling party stuff. Thank goodness. I found a zebra visor. However, John insisted in an animal costume. Oh well, you just can’t please them all the time I suppose.

Tuesday & Wednesday

Yesterday was a church night and my mother in law graciously took care of John for the night. My mother in law is going to take care of John while my wife is away. So I have to tend to Dan only. Since it was a church night, I went straight to bed when I reached home.

Today, I took everyone to One Utama for some shopping. John’s kindy is having an animals theme day this Friday and John wanted a shirt with zebra. I couldn’t find any such shirt. I will continue to search tomorrow night.

I also wanted to print 2 photos. I was looking for the Kodak Picture Kiosk where I can just print 2 photos from my flash disk. Similarly my search was in vain. Do you know the availability of such kiosk? I think there is one in Mid Valley.

Tom and Jerry is going to end soon. Time to put Dan to sleep. Good night.

Prague

Prague is the capital of Czech Republic. The climate is mild continental and the currency is Czech Crown. This is all the information I have found out on Prague.

Suzanne is travelling to Prague on a business trip tonight. This means I have to tend to John and Dan for 4 nights. Matthew will sleep with my maid, Rose.

John and Dan were cutting paper with the scissors earlier. They are playing with magic colours now.

I will put them to bed at 11pm. Wish me luck.

Sore Throat

Looks like I have contracted sore throat from someone. My throat has been acting up since yesterday. I hope I can recover soon.

Smaller Cubicle

Thanks to the office renovation, my new workstation is smaller. The management needed to put more people into the current layout. As a result, existing workstations have been shrunk to make way for additional cubicles. I have lost my privacy too. Sad isn’t it?
