Tour of Shame

The focus is centred on the doping scandal instead of celebrating the winner’s triumph at Champs-Elysees. The infamous 4 riders that have tarnished this year race are Patrik Sinkewitz, Alexandre Vinokourov, Cristian Moreni and Michael Rasmussen. Who would have expected that Vinokourov and Rasmussen got ejected from the race? Once again, everyone is innocent until proven guilty but the your is already tarnished. I doubt they would be able to ride for any team anyway.

The pins continue to fall even after the tour is well over. This year’s winner, Alberto Contador has been linked with Operation Puerto in Spain. Vinokourov’s teammates, Matthias Kessler and Andrey Kashechkin have failed their tests as well.

Can Le Tour recover from all these scandals? Heck, I am still waiting for the results of Floyd Landis’ arbitration.
